Year 8 Picture Book Competition
By Marta Demasson deGennaro
For the last term, the year 8’s have been working tirelessly to each write and illustrate a picture book. After a workshop presented by Sue deGennaro, the teachers guided the students with concepts, illustration and editing. The students produced a diverse range of impressive picture books. We saw collage, painting, drawing and many more styles of illustration along with stories ranging from comic to dark and sinister. The best picture books from each class were entered into the competition, which was to be judged by Sue deGennaro and the University High library staff. On Friday the 8th of September, a morning tea was held in the library and the winners were announced.
On awarding the prizes, the judges commented on how high the standard for the picture books were and how well they were executed, both in writing and illustration. Well done to everyone who participated. Great Job!
