Literature and Poetry Week Begins...

You're in for a treat during this year's Uni High Literature and Poetry festival. Events are planned every day this week so be on the lookout for some great activities and poetry events.
Notably this week is the Ubique Poetry Competition! This years theme is 'Now', so get writing, as entries close Thursday. Submit your poetry and have the chance to win a Readings gift voucher! The theme 'Now' could mean anything to you, from writings about your experience as a teenager today to current global issues, the possibilities are endless. Submit your entries to Audrey, our Creative Editor at Audreybmerton@gmail.com.
Here's a brief overview of this week's itinerary:
Tuesday 19th of September
Screening of Bright Star
Film about the life of John Keats will be screened.
Where: Room 140
When: Lunchtime on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Wednesday 20th of September
Stair Poetry
Poems will be constructed up and down the stairs in the school
Where: stairs
When: End of Session 4
Balloon Poetry
Poems will be pinned to a balloon and set free
Where: From the Hutch
When: Lunchtime
Thursday 21st of September
Poem in Your Pocket Day
Students and staff choose a poem for their pocket. They will carry
this poem with them throughout the day and be prepared to read it
aloud when asked.
Where: all around the school
When: all day – be prepared to recite your poem at a moment’s notice.
(There will also be a Poem in Your Pocket Staff Morning
Tea in the library at recess.)
Dress Up as a Literary Character Day
All students and staff are encouraged to dress as
a literary character. There will be a parade in the library at lunchtime.
Where: all around the school/Library Parade
When: Lunchtime
Poetry Reading
A reading of International Poetry and poems and speeches from the works of Shakespeare. Students also encouraged to select and read a poem of their choice
Our out loud 2017 finalists will be performing
Where: Library
When: Lunchtime
Other events Throughout the Festival
