LEAP Enviro Week

This week was Enviro-Week, and it was amazing to see so many people get involved in the activities and spread awareness, positivity, and knowledge about such an important topic. The environment is something that we can't afford to lose, and it is excellent to see people actively starting conversations about the part we play in preserving our natural world.
I personally went to two events, including Riding to School on Monday, and of course, PJ Day. Riding to school promoted a reduction in our carbon emissions that comes from driving cars, in order to slow down the warming process that our Earth is currently undergoing. There are many negative consequences of global warming, with plenty of research providing us with projections of the ways in which our world will be affected if we don't do anything to stop it (Links for more information are below). PJ day also marks a day with no air conditioning or heating, in order to reduce our energy usage as a school. Despite many people thinking this will not impact our progress in slowing climate change, every step you take to protect our environment slows our journey towards making Earth uninhabitable.

Although the events were not major events, they spread an awareness that will begin many conversations about the part we can play in creating a sustainable future, and a safe and healthy space to live. I am sure many more people will be acting thoughtfully towards preserving our environment. The activities also did this in a fun, creative way, that made students think about how they can help the world, in a way that was engaging and informative.
The environment is a precious item that we cannot afford to lose, and I hope that the enviro-week helped you remember that, because it sure helped me.
