Profile on Circe by Madeline Miller
Written By Miranda burnett
Genre: Fantasy, Mythology, Historical fiction.
3 words describing the book: Witch, Mistrust, Beautiful.
1 sentence describing how you felt when you finished the book: I felt like I was saying goodbye to a friend who I knew everything about as it goes through her whole life, her struggles and disasters.
Strength: I loved how it felt like lots of little adventures that was also one big adventure and it also had a witch that was really cool.
Weakness: The ending, where she stays on the island and doesn’t tell us what happened, was confusing and specific but there isn’t much the author could’ve done to change the story because it was already written a long time ago.
Why you’d recommend it: It is a lovely story that has so much happening in it. It also tells the story of the goddess Circe who is lesser known and it is easier to understand her side of things than in the Odyssey.
