Why Am I Lazy?
Written by Ajna Lacevic
Life as a lazy person is easy, coming from your queen of laziness. However, the time has come to change ourselves. I mean doesn’t everyone want a glow-up these days?
Are you constantly eating chocolate and chips? Are you going to bed at 1 am? Laziness is affected by your lifestyle, personality or a physical/psychological problem. So let's focus on changing our lifestyle. Start small and make your way up. How about, cutting down on the amount of salt and vinegar chips consumed while binge-watching Netflix. Put those chips in a smaller bowl and eat with your non-dominant hand so less is eaten. Maybe convince your parents to buy a dog or a bike so you can get out of the house and stretch your legs.
You may be under lots of stress from the transition of online to physical schooling (I know that it has for me). Try writing your emotions on a piece of paper then rip it up and put it in a bin, or jam out to your favourite songs. I have been attempting many different strategies when I feel a weight on my shoulders, but everyone is unique so do something that suits you. Minor changes can create a positive, healthy and happy outcome.
When the teachers and parents say to minimise your screen time, use it as an opportunity to go out and smell the fresh air (through your mask, of course). As humans, we have been designed to spend time doing the things you love as well as, interacting with people and filling our mind with positive thoughts and feelings. Make sure you are doing these things. Our health is our number one priority and taking care of it is vital. As the saying goes 'love yourself before you love others'.
I know and understand that times are tough now, but things happen for a reason, right? So, let's change ourselves. What can you do to keep yourself motivated?
I have been looking for new hobbies on the internet and from friends. Try something new, maybe painting, sculpting, taking photos or simply going for a walk. I have recently purchased a bike and let me tell you that it is the best thing I have ever bought. Although going up that hill does burn your hammies. I have also created and painted a small windmill out of an art + craft kit. Maybe give your friends a call and see what they have been up to or write a letter to someone special (gives me some Lara Jean vibes, don't you think?).
Do you like cooking? Try making a Chia pudding. All you need is chia and milk (or coconut milk), add some fruit and nuts to top it off.
Do you like keeping active? Make a workout or check out MadFit's YouTube channel for some dancing and exercising.
Or perhaps, you enjoy reading? Pick a genre you enjoy and start reading. I have enjoyed reading One of Us is Lying series.
Maybe you want to do something easy by practising healthy habits. Some tips include; keeping a water bottle next to you during school, keep your bedroom clean, surround yourself with people you feel happy with and writing a to-do list to keep your life organised.
These activities can make time fly by and trust me, it will leave you with a smile on your face.
Remember: being lazy is not bad. Just make sure to balance life and school positively. Give these tips and tricks a try and see how you go. You might even find a secret talent and can finally answer that question from the Natural Confectionery lollies.
