CHICAGO: Meet the Cast
Introducing LAWSON PEGLER as BILLY FLYNN
Suave, educated, and very manipulative, Billy Flynn is a lawyer who makes celebrities of his clients in order to gain them sympathy from the media and sway the public’s opinion – a perk that Roxie tries to take advantage of. Both Velma and Roxie hire Flynn to represent their cases and use him as their claim to fame. With a perfect track record under his belt and good looks and charm to boot, Billy will take on any case as long as it means putting money in his pocket.
Lawson has been doing musicals since year 7 and is excited to be bringing Chicago to life this year. In year 7, he played Peter Allen and The Big Bopper in UHS's Tribute, it has been said that he peaked too early in his career with this leading role however this year he's hoping to prove that wrong. In the role of Billy Flynn, Lawson enjoys portraying someone so different from himself. Having missed last year's musical, Lawson is enthusiastic to be part of it again; he thinks that the school musical is the most fun extra-curricular UHS has to offer. Lawson is also a part of the school’s senior choir and has performed his fair share of solos! He hopes that everyone enjoys the performance
Do you have any inspiration for the role of Billy Flynn?
The character of Billy is so stereotypical, it's very easy to imagine someone who only cares about money, whose priorities are so whack. Greasy, sly, manipulative all those especially dodgy characteristics we associate with Lawyers.
What can Audiences look forward to?
This year I think we have a very talented, diligent cast. It's so fun working with nice, talented people who share my interest in performing. The singing I reckon will be great but there are some really good-looking dance moves happening all over the place.
What is your favourite song in the show?
My favourite song in the show would either have to be We Both Reached for the Gun or Mr. Cellophane, but every single number is moving and shaking and looking awesome. But there are some really cool dance moves in We Both Reached for the Gun.
