The Club Expo

BY HUNTER JOSEPH, EVE BECKER AND WILLIAM FARRUGIA

University High School’s club expo was held on the tenth of February, and it can certainly be called a success, with a massive turnout with all the Clubs gaining dozens of new members.

The vivid energy radiating from the crowd!

The sudden attendance of many new students to the clubs was galvanised with the amazing performance by Kofi Kunkpe, who played the drums with stunning proficiency and getting the crowd immersed with the club expo.

Upon leaving the canteen, there were a stunning array of drums to behold, and students sat around them excitedly, awaiting their magnificent teacher. Quite a performance was put on, and the way that everyone got involved was inspiring to see, as our community came together to celebrate and dance.

The gardening club table was quite the highlight, and its members were especially enthusiastic. Their cheerful tablecloth drew many eyes to them, and one student even donned a flower crown for the occasion!

The chamber choir also had a zealous group of people at their table. Their club was described by one as a “small choir of advanced singers and voice students”, and their founder Ana said that it is a “great environment to express musicality at a higher level” and to “be yourself”.

The booming drums!

The Queer Club, which is currently searching for the perfect name for their group, had an incredibly welcoming environment. There were many laughs to be had, but it was also a safe place to discuss the discrimination LGBTQIA+ students face, which one member confirmed is an issue for them at UniHigh.

SRC, who are known for giving a voice to the students of UniHigh, received a great deal of sign ups, as did the Volleyball club, Debating, Chess, Game development and many others.

A great deal of Game Development’s sign ups were no doubt due to the $200 prize offered to the winner of a competition being run called the “Game Jam”.
