The Final Exhibition
By Beth Thomas
Friday the 22nd of April was a big day for one of the year 10 Writing, Editing & Publishing classes, or more specifically, it was the day of their Final Exhibition. This entailed a lot of hard work, group coherence and creativity on behalf of the young journalists. This project began its construction in the later weeks of term one, and was just completed and presented last month.
The outline of the project set for the students was to create a new media platform, easily accessible using both modern technology and popular production formats such as blogs, websites and phone applications. It was required that a specific target audience was chosen when writing the articles, in order to give a focus to the production. Some themes chosen by the groups, made up of four or five students, were fashion, music and reviews. All themes were chosen whilst keeping in mind the audience, but also the audience’s common interests. For example, often teenagers tend to be interested in music and entertainment news. Here is where you can access each project exhibited on the day by these fledgling investigators and reporters:
Conor, Jade and Meg, with their Instagram fashion account that offered modern fashion tips for an audience in their teenage years with an interest in fashion. You can find their works by following @who.said.fashion on Instagram.
Beth, Viet, Anson, Linda and Isy with their phone app, designed to bring the latest news and reviews to their audience of 15-18 year old high school students.
