Shorts, electric fans, and the blazing 38° hot sun - these are signs for the arrival of summer. The extra warmth of spring feels like an early sunshine, it’s certain that everyone is absolutely thrilled. Now it may be a bit early to discuss summer holidays, but these suggestions could make your summer holiday a cut above any other. So grab your sunscreen and shades, because we are going on a tropical adventure!
When we mention the word summer and holiday, what comes to your mind? A beach, ice-cream, or a chill night walk? No matter what the occasion, any activity with a group of friends will always be a definite win. Going to the beach with all your mates opens up to a wide variety of options. If everyone is feeling excited and athletic, playing beach volleyball can exert all of that adrenaline under the scorching sun. If the mood is a bit more relaxed, taking a slow swim in the cool blue ocean can bring the vibe down an octave. As everyone levitates above the azure waves, rays of mellow sunlight are absorbed by the ocean blue as it keeps our bodies at the perfect temperature. Sounds like a perfect Sunday afternoon with the group. The same themes apply to all different environments, whether it's vibing at a park or walking through the city, friends make the experience a whole lot more merrier.
If any of you would rather spend a summer holiday by yourself, there is still an arsenal of options to entertain you. If you’re interested in a more artistic approach, visiting a museum is definitely worth an adventure. Strolling through the marbled hallways of the NGV whilst glancing around at the unique display of artworks. As Melbourne's most visited art museum, NGV has special art exhibits quite often, so there is always something new to enjoy once in a while.
If you’re more keen to use your free time for learning new skills, enrolling in extra-curricular classes is an underrated holiday activity to experience. It doesn’t matter what you’re feeling up to; if it’s starting a new hobby or continuing an old one, there are always a variety of classes to join. Wanna pick up an instrument? Piano classes are always available. Recently shown interest in martial arts? Taekwondo and boxing gyms are right around the corner. Sometimes you don’t even need a teacher to learn things, as the internet can provide a vast amount of knowledge for anyone to explore. If you’ve always wanted to pursue bakery, why not search up some basic recipes on TikTok. Developed a sudden admiration for knitting? YouTube videos can turn you into a pro in no time. It’s always calming to spend time with yourself especially during the summertime season.
Apart from the somewhat ordinary activities that were listed above, there are some places to visit that are unique to Melbourne. These internet famous attraction sites will open a new perspective to all the entertainment found in this beautiful city. A recently popular place is Grazeland. Located in Spotswood, this mysterious location provides a range of vendors that serves an assortment of international dishes and drinks - almost every country’s signature dish can be found here. From baklava in Turkish mini-shops, to the different varieties of tacos from Mexican vendors. The syrupy sugarcane juice from asian snack bars, to even fish-and-chips! Whilst being accompanied by a singing band in the middle of all the hype, Grazeland is a flawless choice to spend the evening.
Switching up the suburban lifestyle to a more vintage look, Melbourne’s Chinatown is your number 1 pick. Stepping foot into a two street long aisle, this outdoors hallway is filled with beguiling establishments. The most iconic Chinatown building is the Museum of Chinese Australian History. Centered at the heart of Chinatown, this five-floor building shares the different aspects of the Chinese-Australian community. It shares an interminable history for preserving Chinese culture and making it thrive in a multicultural populace. Another amazing part about Chinatown are the events that take place there. Chinese New Year is just around the corner and Chinatown is preparing to welcome this exhilarating festival. Lanterns and mesmerising decorations will envelope the entire street. And to top it all off, magnificent lion dance performances will be performed to get everyone hyped up for this celebration. Be sure to hang around in the city, because summer is welcoming a compelling festival!
To many, summer signifies the chance to get outside and have the time of their lives. To others it’s a perfect time to relax at home and enjoy the warmth of the sun in their own quarters. Whatever path you choose to follow, it’s always important to have fun! They say every summer has its own story, why don't you start writing your own?
