Some More Games To Play

Written By Jasper Simionato

I have read Josh's article on some of the games that he played through lockdown and have decided to make a follow up myself. Enjoy!

Hollow knight:
This game is a wonder, between the orchestral soundtrack, the hand-drawn visuals and lore so deep that you will end up finding yourself watching 1.2-hour videos on the void and where it came from, or the history of the white lady. It is a 2d platformer made by a small team called team cherry. I said it before but the music in this game is amazing (i will admit I cried a little in the city of tears). This game does start off a little bland and it will NOT refrain from beating you to the ground but one of the great things about hollow knight is that because it is a Metroidvania you can always choose to go somewhere else and come back later after you have found a double jump or simply more health.

10/10 for everyone, seriously.

(just remember to get the map and compass)

Civilization 6:
This game is long, so make sure you have some snacks and a good comfortable position, you will be there for a while. This game is about building a civilization through the ages and it has so many intricacies that it is hard to know where to start. This game may be boring for some but it gives a perfect time waster for fans of strategy. Until GANDHI NUKES YOU FOR THE THIRD TIME. This game is very good, but slow and has a lot of depth.

7.2/10

(Kill Gandhi fast)

Just cause 3:
I don’t own this game but I have played it at friends places before and had an absolute blast. This game isn't as "child friendly" as the others but do not pay the 18+ tag any mind, it's not like that. In fact, I would say it would be 13+. This game is about taking down a dictatorship on the beautiful Italian islands of Medici. This game is a love it or hate it scenario, but with its recently lowered price down from 60 to 20 for the base game, I think it is for everyone. This game at first seems like it is about shooting and killing, and you would be technically right, but that is not what it is about. In this game, you can take down a statue by tethering it and making it slap itself with your grappling hook then use its head like a wrecking ball with tethers. Yes, grappling hook, you have one of those, along with a wingsuit and the ability to use infinite parachutes. . This game favours the creative, so give it a try.

8.2/10

(This game is what happens if you were to combine spider man with a bucket of dynamite.)

TABS (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator):
This game is if you were to get every period in history then made them all have their silliest and strongest inventions at the time and made them fight with ragdoll physics and all. It has a surprising amount of strategy and tons of content, like secret units you have to find, multiple campaigns and a unit creator. Not to forget also online multiplayer and steam workshop support (which is pretty much just mods)

8.1/10

(No, billy! )

Portal 1 and 2: These games are brilliant in so many ways and appeal to every audience, even your parents! I will not spoil the story but I will say that they have some very hard puzzles so you may have to search up an answer every so often.
9/10

(The cake is not a lie)

And The Final Game Is…
Kerbal Space Program:
This game isn't too complex, it's not rocket science, oh wait... This game is a seemingly silly rocket science game where you build rockets but you would be wrong, as this game's physics and space simulations have ended up with ELON MUSK and NASA reviewing this game. Yes, you read that right. Be warned, you will crash. A lot. In fact, I have never come back to earth from orbit (poor Jeb). Definitely worth a try.

9.1/10

(Hey wait, where is my left engine?)

Thanks for reading. (by Jasper S)

Post Script: P.S. Some runner ups that I haven't played yet but know are good and worth a look:
Fallout New Vegas, teardown, Noita, Psychonauts 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Satisfactory, Halo infinite(not out yet) and Control. There are many others but those are the most standout ones.

Post, Post Script: If you are new to gaming, try Portal 1 and 2 first. Also if you want to play video games a lot, I would recommend using windows. (If you have a mac then it’s possible to run Windows with bootcamp)

Bye!
