The Cerebral Palsy Bake Sale

BY SAGUFTA HAQUE & YUSUF BASER

Hey there, UHS Fam! It's time to shift our focus from lockers and their mysterious wanderings to something heartwarming and community-driven.

On Friday, September 1, during both breaks, UHS witnessed a delightful event that not only satisfied our taste buds but also tugged at our heartstrings. We're talking about the bake sale organized by none other than Mr. Bush, and it was all for a good cause – raising funds for Cerebral Palsy.

But before we delve into the scrumptious details of the menu and the delectable treats that furnished our tables, let's take a moment to understand what cerebral palsy is all about. Cerebral palsy, is the most common motor disability in childhood. It is caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain, which, in turn, affects a person's ability to control their muscles. It's a condition that requires ongoing care and support, and that's where our bake sale comes into play.

The bake sale aimed to raise funds for a wonderful charity, The Cerebral Palsy Network (https://cpsn.org.au). This organization tirelessly works to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by cerebral palsy. By participating in this bake sale, the UHS community demonstrated its commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those battling this condition.

Now, let's talk about the star of the event – the menu. Many students and staff put together a delightful variety that had something for everyone. From irresistible brownies that melted in your mouth to refreshing frozen strawberries that provided a sweet respite, the meringues, which came in a variety of flavours and shapes, the bake sale had it all.

We also caught up with one of the participants, Sameeya, to get a sneak peek into what she brought to the table. Her contribution to the bake sale was truffles, which seemed to have sold out by the end of the first break!

As we savoured these delectable treats, it was heartening to know that every bite contributed to a meaningful cause. The funds raised at the bake sale will go a long way in supporting individuals with cerebral palsy and their families through the services provided by The Cerebral Palsy Network.

In the grand scheme of things, our bake sale may seem like a small event, but it represents the power of community coming together to make a difference. It's a reminder that even the sweetest of treats can have a profound impact when they're made with love and purpose. So, kudos to Mr. Bush and everyone who participated, baked, or indulged in the goodies. Your contributions not only satisfied our taste buds but also warmed our hearts.

That's a wrap on the bake sale raising funds for cerebral palsy. Stay tuned for more heartwarming stories and updates on how our UHS community is making a positive impact. Until next time, keep spreading the love and school spirit, one bake sale at a time!
