bacon, bacon, bacon

By Naomi & Esther

On this episode of Naomi and Esther’s Canteen Adventures, we’ve got the extremely, not really, kinda, maybe famous $6.50 Fried Rice + Bacon (FRB) by Uni High’s very own. One of the more classic specials, the golden glory of the rice adorned by the pink squares of meat, just really hit the spot like no other we’ve tried. We must say, this is definitely not an opportunity you want to pull out of!

This may be controversial, but we love a good FRB. There’s just something about the comfort of having the warm bed of fried rice whilst also having the tantalising surprises of bacon throughout. This experience has truly shown us that size doesn’t matter, but how the meat is used.

During a long day of school and studying, sometimes it’s just nice to indulge in some FRB, and our school’s canteen knows just how to satisfy us. With the healthy dose of vegetables, being the scattered peas as well as the singular floret of broccoli lurking around in it, really balanced out the overwhelming flavour of the meat.

However, every FRB has its shortcomings. As much as we enjoyed the meat in our mouths, it was a little salty for our taste buds. Personally, some of the meat squares were just too big for us, but when it comes to size, it’s really just up to preference. Like we said before, it’s not about the size, it’s really about how you use it, and the canteen was able to use it pretty darn well. As well as that, it was a little tough, but the slight stiffness of the meat didn’t bother us, not when the mouth-watering taste was enough to distract us entirely from the texture.

Ultimately, the FRB was a solid and certainly filling meal that we would recommend to the entire student body of Uni High. Trust us, you will certainly be satisfied when we hook you up with your very own FRB. This article isn’t very long, but you know what is? The line at the canteen. So you better get going since there’s no such thing as arriving too early… or is there?
