New Year, New Ubique!
New Ubique? Newbique?
Whatever equally cheesy name you want to call it, we’re back for the new year, and we’re better than ever! We have a brand new website, as you can see, and I hope we can make this year of the school publication even better than the last. Now is the perfect time to join our team and be a part of something really unique and worthwhile. I promise you’ll make at least some friends – we don’t bite - and all you really need to join our talented team of creators is a bunch of ideas and maybe enough patience to put up with the occasional feminist or Taylor Swift-themed rant.
But before you start getting excited at the thought of putting your ramblings on the internet (we welcome ramblings in written, photographic, musical, or just about any expressive form), let me introduce the important people: there’s me, Maya, who I’m sure you all know by now thanks to my numerous sub-school assembly appearances (I know how much you all LOVE those), but more excitingly there are some new people who have stepped up to fill the sizeable and impeccable shoes left by Jack and Alice:
- Conor Ammett: Sub-Editor. You know that one that smiles? All the time? Is basically just a ball of joy? Yeah, that one.
- Kartiya Turner: Manager. That one that looks slightly too edgy to approach but then you find out she made peanut butter balls for her literature class and you half want to ask for one half don’t want to seem uncool in your obsession with peanut butter. It’s okay, she loves peanut butter too, she understands.
(See the About page for more silly stuff about us.)
Also exciting about this year is that we’ve added a Queer page, so that all of you who are interested can find Queer-related media with literally one click (you can thank the lovely people at Spectrum for that one)!
2016 will be a great year, and you guys can make it even better. Even if you don’t want to contribute anything, make sure you watch this space for awesome articles, photos and even the occasional teacher tag, because we upload an article every day of the week. If you have any old articles lying around that you do want us to put out there, however, please do email us at ubiqueteam@gmail.com (or go to the Contact page) or, even better, come along to one of our meetings. We host meetings every Tuesday lunchtime in room 159, so bring your lunch, your ideas, and some peanut butter balls if you happen to have any.
We can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with.
Until next time,
Your editor,
Maya
