UHS Students’ Glory Days

By: Ammarah Qazi

Photo day; the one time all pupils bond with one another for the apparent common objective.

Depending on the result we end up either triumphant or internally passing out, whether or not the scream is contained. The latter of which the majority of us endure.

After deep cogitation and careful consideration, it was concluded that none other than our current year 12s, who have witnessed all there possibly is to, are the obvious experts to survey on their superior and inferior experiences, providing information and advice to the younger and future students of UHS.

Noticeably in the results, year 12 photos have by far been the most successful outcome, followed by year 11. Expectantly, years 7, 8, and 9 have been the least successful photo day outcomes. This depicted a hopeful trend, connoting the best is yet to come, regardless of the current year level.

(Something which earnestly contrasts my own experience.😭😩)

As conveyed below, the major contributing factors determining the quality of a person’s school photo, is predominantly by the facial expression, followed by the amount of preparation spent ‘perfecting’ oneself prior to the photo.

Ensuing this, the photo time during the day, posture and lighting contributed to the photo outcome. It was even noted that some people were unaware of the day altogether!

Pieces of advice consisted of the following:

Think about something happy during the photo (so your eyes smile)

Practice your smile prior, making sure you have the best facial expression, and enjoy it (to avoid looking… you know how)

Move your neck forward and slightly tilt your head

Practice your hair, and if dying it, get someone unbiased to take a look at it (before the photo)

Don’t stress or worry about your photo

Go to the young photographers (who will take multiple photos)

Make sure to see your photo before you walk off

& above all: Remember the Day!
