A Fabulous Library at Your Disposal

By Eve becker

All of us at Unihigh know about our library. Some of us go there often, whether it’s to chat with friends, attend a club, or have some quiet study time. A surprisingly low number of students however, actually take advantage of all the amazing books and other resources that make our library great.

I wanted to investigate what books are at our fingertips, and what makes our library special, so I spoke to one of the friendly librarians.

What’s your favourite book in our school library?

That’s a really good question, I don’t really have a favourite book. My favourite is always whatever I’m reading at the moment, so it’s impossible to choose. I’m currently reading “how to do nothing” which is an interesting exploration of the economy, and brings in philosophical elements.

What’s special about Unihigh’s Library?

We are so lucky at Unihigh. We’ve had an incredible library for so many years, even before all the renovations. Our school leadership recognises the importance of the library for the students, and we get a large budget for new books. We also have very passionate staff, who are willing to bend over backwards for people’s needs.

The staff make sure Queer books are adequately displayed, as well as featuring pride flags in the entryway.

The library is not limited to books, however, as there are a wide array of graphic novels and magazines. No magazines are as good as Ubique though of course.
