The End of An Era

By Valerie lieu

As the year draws to an end, it marks the end of Year 10, our final year before starting VCE. We have interviewed a group of people asking them to reflect on this year and their thoughts on the year that lies ahead.

When asked about their thoughts on finishing Year 10, there were many different responses, ranging from being excited to feeling scared. The thought of getting older is daunting as there is so much to come. There is also little time that we have left of this year, which includes the upcoming exams that many of us are stressed over. It is a sad feeling, that we have reached the end of the years that doesn't matter as much.

However, amongst the uncertainty, there is also a lot to be excited about! With the end of the year, we are able to reminisce about the good things that happened. There have been many enjoyable moments, times with friends and experiences.

With the start of VCE next year, we will need to get more serious about our schooling and that’s terrifying in itself. Before we know it, high school will be over and soon we have to go out into the real world. There is a lot of pressure to do well and many of us are feeling overwhelmed.

Nonetheless, there are also many upsides! As we step into Year 11 and come closer to the end of High School, there are many things that we can look forward to. Some include strengthening our friendships and making new ones, learning more skills and gaining more experiences.

Everyone that we asked said that they have changed a lot over the course of this year. There has been a huge gap between the end of Year 9 and the end of Year 10. It has been a year filled with growth and transformation. Even though we all have mixed emotions about next year, there is so much to await. So embrace this change with enthusiasm and optimism!
